ABA Therapy in Raleigh, NC — In-Home and School-Based, Ages 7 to 21
Raleigh has no shortage of ABA providers. It has very few that take a sixteen-year-old, and fewer still that will come to your house to do it.
Plenty of ABA in Raleigh. Not much of it for older clients.
If you have already called around the Triangle, you have probably run into two versions of the same answer. Either the practice is centre-based, meaning you drive your child across town several times a week, or the practice focuses on early learners and quietly stops taking clients somewhere around age twelve.
We are the other thing. Second Chance ABA is home- and community-based by design — there is no clinic to drive to — and our entire caseload is ages seven to twenty-one. For a Raleigh family with a teenager, that combination is surprisingly hard to find.
We serve in-home and community clients anywhere within 15 miles of Raleigh, which covers most of the city and the surrounding towns. If you are not sure whether your address falls inside that, call and ask — it takes about ten seconds to check, and we would rather tell you no on the phone than six weeks into an intake.
Telehealth is available anywhere in North Carolina, which for some Raleigh families is the practical way to keep caregiver training going when schedules get tight.

The skill has to hold up at home
A teenager who can follow a routine perfectly in a therapy room and not at all in their own kitchen has not learned the routine.
Generalisation is the whole problem
Older clients are usually not struggling to acquire a skill in a controlled room. They are struggling to use it in the messy, loud, distracting place it is actually needed. We work in that place from day one.
No commute, no fight about the commute
For a lot of families, getting a teenager into the car twice a week is itself the hardest behavior in the plan. Removing the drive removes an obstacle that has nothing to do with treatment.
The caregivers are already there
Caregiver training happens naturally when sessions run in the home. The adults who will manage this for the next ten years get trained in the environment they will be managing it in.
